Workshops for Administrators

Monday, July 8 – Wednesday, July 10, 2019

3-Day Workshop

Presented by Munir Shivji

Time: 8:30 am - 7:15 pm   Fee: $1,750

This workshop is an overview of the Montessori method and philosophy of education. Components include the application and analysis of the Montessori philosophy and method, a short survey of Dr. Maria Montessori's life and work, Montessori terminology, Montessori's research on the four planes of development and sensitive periods, normalization/socialization of the child, and the fundamental methods used in Montessori classrooms. This class includes methods for understanding how Montessori teachers motivate, discipline, manage the classroom for the individualization of learning activities, and how they apply and integrate these methods into the classroom. This course offers suggestions for how administrators can support Montessori programs and teachers and is especially important for administrators working without the training behind a Montessori credential.

This is an excellent three-day class to take if you want to get a feel for Montessori from the view of an administrator. It will help you deepen your understanding of how Montessori philosophy informs many of the decisions that a head or administrator makes in a Montessori school. The course is lively, enganging, and informative. Come ready to discuss, present, and collaborate! You'll enjoy every minute and we promise you will find yourself refreshed and excited about the year ahead -- inspired to take on new tasks in a new light as you deepen your commitment to Montessori education.
